Does anybody know of an intercom system (Rider to passenger) that you can use without a helmet? Like maybe throat mikes and ear plugs.

  1. Sierra Electronics carries helmetless headsets for Harley and Goldwing systems. The could possibly be adapted to work with others.

  2. wear a helmet stupid

  3. If your passenger is your wife...... dont bother. Being on the bike is the only time your gonna get any peace.

  4. ok, i do think if there's no helmet law it's great to be free to make your own choice... but call this a dumb question maybe... if neither of you are wearing helmets?  can't you hear one another fine?  i guess maybe i'm ignorant on it because we have helmet laws here and when i hit a state without, i didn't have anyone along

jc whitney does have alot of intercoms shown, thought i should try to answer you at least ;)

  5. My CB has what they call a cage to allow you to use the headset without the need of a helmet. Even if the headset doesn't stay directly on my ears, I have no problem hearing.

Issue that I run into with the mike when I'm not using a helmet- a lot of wind noise. They make a plastic cap to go over the mike and then a friend found us some good foam to add to it. Sound quality is much better. Best if behind a face shield, but clear enough with just the headset.

I added a link to the site where we buy our stuff. If you want to know more, send me an email.

  6. Yeh, you can buy systems either online at places like M+P, Maplins, or go o your local motorcycle shop. Also try places like Halfords.

  7. Try bikeintercom.com I think they have what you are looking for.

  8. you can barely hear with a helmet, if you want to not use a helmet (Throat mikes garble) then just yell to each other... So silly.
