Question:

Bike pedal slips/jumps while riding sometimes?

When I was riding my bike, I needed a bit more power, so I switched to second gear, then stood up. to pedal up the hill.

As soon as I did this, after a few seconds, the bike pedals just slips or jumped it went klunk, and rotated forward without me pedaling it, causing my foot to slip of the pedal, and fall.

Do you know what the problem is and how I can fix it?

  1. yeah, your chainring is worn out

the teeth are probably deformed to look like curly waves, aren't they?

    theyre supposed to be symmetrical

how to fix: do NOT replace just the rings, that wont work and you will trash the new rings. they are made of soft aluminium and your chain, which is also worn, is made of hard steel.

you MUST replace the chainrings, chain and cassette.  its expensive, but the only way.

p.s.: if you convert to fixed-gear it will be less expensive and will last longer.
