Bike point races? thanks for the help!?

Question

My dad and I were watching the games the other night and they started showing this bike race. We thought, "why not?" so then they go into all these rules talking about sprints and how you get this many point for this and that many for that. but the information was interrupted by all of the commenting " so and so pulls ahead"...

so can anyone explain the rules to me in the simplest possible term

Every 10 laps they have a sprint, and the first 4 riders across the line get points:

1st - 5 pts

2nd - 3 pts

3rd - 2 pts

4th - 1 pt

Also, if you can lap the field you are given 20 pts.  The person with the most points at the end of the race wins.
