  1. if insurance gave u the check dont worry  they will keep old bike  had a car stolen 2 days after they gave me the check they found it they asked if i wanted to buy said no   done deal  dont worry

  2. You do not have to report it ... the police are required to report it to the insurance company.

Leave it in the possession of the police, but if they brought it to you, then you need to report it to the insurance company as they will be informed of the recovery and location of the bike from the Police.

If they approved a new bike for you, then they now own the old one and this will have been reported to DMV as well so the old bike cannot be registered, insured or parts sold off of it.

They will sell it at auction now to recover some of the money that they have paid out to, or approved to pay out to you.

Most insurance companies will give you the first opportunity to purchase the bike back from the insurance company though, so if you had the money sitting around, you can likely get it dirt cheap and resell it for a nice profit.
