  1. The tube popped. There are only 3 reasons for this:

    1. A foreign object penetrated the tire and punctured the tube.

    2. You hit something so hard the tube got pinched between the rim and the tire, wearing a hole in it.

    3. The tube was not properly installed. There are a number of things that can go wrong, such as getting the tube between the tire bead and the rim, faulty rim strips, etc.

You can usually tell which one it is by looking at the tube and see where the leak is. If the leak is on the outside, then it is a foreign object puncture. Make sure the object is still not inside or embedded in the tire. If the leak is two holes, like a snakebite, then you've hit something too hard too many times. Make sure your tires are always inflated fully and ride more carefully. Improper installation is fixed by checking things very carefully.

  2. Changing tyres is like tuning a guitar. It's a chore you'll have to do every so often. learn how to do it well and relatively quickly  and it won't inconvenience you so much.

  3. Well, it was your tube that made the tire go flat, because that's what actually holds the air.  The tire puncture shouldn't be a problem as long as you get your tube patched up and make sure that whatever made the hole isn't still in there.  (to do that just run your hand along the inside of your tire when you take the tube off and make sure nothing snags you).  hope that helped!

  4. all the air is stored in the tube so it must be the tube

  5. Also make sure there are no sharp edges in the tire bead.  If the tires are old, some of the rubber may have worn away and the  metal wires making the bead will puncture the tire.  Happened to me once.
