Question:

Bike trials question?

I'm looking to buy my first trials bike soon. I want a 26" bike and I'm leaning toward the Zhi Z2. I was just wondering if anyone had any good/bad things to say about this bike and if they are bad things, what would you recommend instead?

  1. I don't know anything about that one, but I think it's cool that you're getting into trials!   If you're building up the frame, one thing I'd recommend is that you do a front freewheel setup....they seem to be a lot more durable and you won't blow up freewheels as often.  Plus, it looks uber cool when you coast and the chain keeps moving!    :o)

Register for the forum at http://www.observedtrials.net and someone can probably tell you more about the Zhi and any other bike you're considering.

As for other bikes, I have friends that own Adamant, Czar, Base, and Koxx....no broken frames yet and everything works well.   I don't own one myself anymore but had a Monty for a short while.  The Adamant had an issue with bad frame alignment that showed up as a crooked wheel, rubbing brake pad, and eventually 2 shattered freewheels....they replaced it for free and the new one is just fine, so I wouldn't hesitate to get an Adamant.

Like most bikes, after you choose the geometry that you like, the rest of it is all in the components, not the brand of the frame itself.   Lucky for you, most of the trials specific stuff is great quality and there aren't too many choices!   lol   :o)
