  1. Mate; There is an old saying that goes "You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear".

It is not 100% correct though. If you change everything that smells of pork you can wind up with a terrific ride. You just have to ask yourself; Is it worth the cost?

Even though your frame, crank and fork are a bit piggy, the bike is nothing like it started life as. The weight of these parts isn't going to slow you down too much. The bike isn't terrible.

It could cost you a bit to change out the frame, fork and crank, if you want to turn it into an even better bike (silk purse) . If you still have all the original joker parts you could throw them back together as a spare or sell it.

Here is what I do. Get your bike to a standard that you are happy with. Keep an eye out for the parts that wear or the ones you lust after. When you see something to good to refuse snaffle it.

Remember it is not the best bike that wins it is the best rider. So spend your time riding rather than shopping or worrying about your bike.

    Have fun
