Biking and how it helps track?

i like biking. and i run cross country track.

i want to know what biking helps in terms of track, does it help cross country on hills? or sprinting? or short/long distance? or what.'

  1. Biking is great for leg strength, and as the guy above me said, no impact on your knees, so you can increase leg muscle and save your knees for cross country.  


  2. Biking can be a good cross training to use during your running training.

    It builds cardiovascular conditioning, while not putting impact on your joints.

    If you bike on an easy or recovery days it will help you.

    It can not be used in place of actual running or to replace a practice day.  

  3. It can definitely help your cardiovascular conditioning, but muscle recruitment is a bit different than running.  

    I wouldn't use it as a substitute, but in a pinch, like injury recovery,  it can save your season.
