Question:

Biking and leg muscle?

I really want to get into biking to try to get some leg muscle and get fit. I run track and really want to see some improvement in my long jump and endurance. Could biking help me do this? If so, what distance am I looking at for noticeable improvement? I'm also interested in Mountain biking if that makes a difference.

  1. Mountain biking may actually help. You do a lot of interval-like efforts. Cycling will make your legs stronger, although not like lifting. I would recommend hitting the gym for that. Your endurance should be improved by cycling, especially if you add this to your current workouts. I would caution you that you could crash! This may set back your running. Just something to consider.
