  1. if u wanna run a 5k u gotta train for a 5k. like mentioned earlier biking is different than running.

check out this 8week 5k program. its set up for beginners, but if u are in better shape, start at week 3 or 4.

  2. If that is all your doing cardio wise, it will be very tough.......but you can probably finish OK.  Biking your legs are taking the beating they do when you run, therefore your body isn't going to be use to it.  You'll find your breathing will be almost twice as difficult as well, b/c biking you only get your heart rate up a little.....watch it soar when you run.  Good Luck

  3. running is completly different from biking...the conversion to biking miles to running miles is 6:1 so you are really only "running" a bit over 1 mile when you bike...my suggestion is to run in order to train for a 5k

  4. Biking does not translate into getting in shape for running. It may help a little bit, but if I were you I would do a little running to supplement your biking workouts, especially if you want to do a good time. A 5k is actually a pretty short race, and doing a good time means you are going to be running pretty fast the entire time. You will probably want to do some speed work to help you reach your goal. Good luck!
