Bilge pump replacement...?

hi, our bilge pump stopped working. we have a 2002 bayliner capri 1804. is this something major & expensive to have repaired? is this something we should be able to do ourselves? yes i already know bayliners suck. thanks!

this should not be a big problem. we have a kawasaki ultra 150 jetski and our bilge system is not working perfectly either. we plan o fixing it around the winter for summer. but i dont belive this is a thing to fix it, i personally dont know how to, but i suggest going to forrums and see if anyone there can help you.

They are very simple to replace, so don't waste money on a mechanic for it. As long as you can lay on your stomache and operate a screwdriver at the same time, you should be okay.

Before you pull it out, you might want to check the intake to it and just make sure that something isn't clogging it.

I'm assuming you already checked the fuse ....

Bayliners don't suck. They are a good entry level boat. They are a inexpensive way to find if you love boating. Now the bilge pump is very easy to replace. It should just unscrew from base and you replace it with one like it or better it is up to you. The wiring is simple, only 2 wires to connect.

you can do it yourself, check the fuse first, check to make sure it's not stuck (remove strainer and check), it's only two wires, soldering works best for the electrical connections but, you can crimp connect them until the season is over, and a proper marine connection can be made (soldering the wires together).

First check to see if clogged,you do this by twisting counter clock wise on top of bilge pump if it isn't clogged just go to wal mart to buy a replacement you will have a few choices in size (gallons per hour) I bought the 750 series and am quite happy with it. These units cost apx $18-25 bucks.

You may also want to check the switch this can be done with the help on another person and a continuity tester unhook the wires from the pump hook up the tester and have someone else flip the switch. If the switch works then replace the pump.

Here the way to check the pump & float first check fuse with a volt meter> Then check Volt= to & out of switch them go in manal on switch check V at pump black ground & rer Or brown pos= hot> If Voltage check the ground? Float switch in auto on switch check V in and with float in up position Voltage will read 12 v in & out in up>to pump>Hope this helps>
