My husband is looking for a job that will be able to support himself and three others. He speaks perfect English and can not seem to find a job that will pay enough for myself and his children to go down there. Due to some circumstances, he had to do to Honduras and will have to be there for several years. I was interested in knowing where he might find some luck finding a job in Honduras with his bilingual skills.

  1. It depends on his highest level in education and other things. Honduras doesn't pay much, and doesn't have enough jobs for their own, let alone any foreigners. International companies are the way to go, or a government position, the latter would be next to impossible however. Real estate is a good option, if he knows nothing about it he can take classes in San Pedro Sula and other cities in Honduras. Real estate companies such as Century 21 require people to be bilingual, its good pay compared to other jobs. I would highly recommend you get a job as well if you want to live anywhere near as comfortably as you did in the U.S., look into telemarketing, they only look for bi-linguals (assuming you also are bilingual).

  2. Maybe at a hotel or tourist attraction?  That's what I am thinking about for myself, as my husband is also in Honduras (also probably for a year and a half to two years), and our daughter and I miss him very much.  My husband lives in a small town and is a cattle farmer, not much there for me to do.  But San Pedro Sula isn't too far.  What about teaching English?  My husband says it costs extra for the children to learn in school, so maybe they pay more for that?  Send me an email, maybe we can figure something out, or at least provide a little support since it looks like we are in the same boat here (you can send me a message through my profile on here).  Oh yeah, where is your husband at in Honduras?  That might make a difference as to what kind of work he could find that could support the family.
