Bill Bray is back in Cincinnati Reds - MLB Update
The Cincinnati Reds made the most awaited announcement on Friday, June 22, of Bill Bray’s activation after what seemed an endlessly stint in the disabled list. With strained left groin, the player remained in the disabled list for two months, significantly
altering the outlook of team’s defence.
However, much as things had considerably changed in his absence, his arrival has the equal likelihood to give a boost to the Cincinnati Reds.
All this while, even if he had not been able to play – which is never a good feeling, seeing his team performing relatively well was reassuring for Bray. With his activation, he will be an added advantage for the team to a big extent.
"It's been a long couple of months now. It's nice to be back," Bray said. "It's not a good feeling not being here, but it's awesome watching teammates and your friends play well and be in first place. It's a great feeling. The only thing you want to change
is you want to be here. I'm looking forward to helping out."
Bray’s arrival became possible after his rehab assignment with Class A Dayton and Louisville. Even though the team could bring him otherwise too, his performance there augmented his chances to be back sooner than later.
The four appearances that he made for Louisville, the Reds pitcher allowed two runs and three hits and walks each with five strikeouts to his credit.
Bray could have made his way back in the team early with the first strained groin injury, but it was worsened that led to the considerable gap.
"It was more where I was landing toward home plate," Bray said. "I closed off four or five inches toward first base. All of a sudden, I was jerking baseballs home and not throwing strikes. Once I figured that out, things got back to normal.”
Nonetheless, now that Bill Bray is back in the Cincinnati Reds, the team’s defence stands altered, ever more strong and prepared to take on the rivals. It will be interesting to see how effectively he utilizes his chances in the future games.
