Bill Cregar dominates Men’s 400m Individual Medley meet: Day Two – 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals
Bill M Cregar of ABSC stunned the arena with his gold winning effort in the Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on the second day of the 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals in Athens, Georgia, USA.
The 22-year-old Cregar, who qualified into the final as the third fastest swimmer, improved his timing by almost eight seconds to capture the title of the 400m IM. He won the gold medal in a time of 4 minutes and 25.18 seconds. He was trailed by Alec W Cohen
of Rays, who settled on the podium for the silver medal, by completing his swim in a time of 4 minutes and 28.83 seconds. DYNA’s 18-year-old Dylan S Kase appeared on the finishing wall for the third fastest spot, as he occupied the bronze medal in 4 minutes
and 32.55 seconds.
The 17-year-old Steven M Kekacs of ASL was only 0.23 seconds behind Kase and reached the podium for fourth best spot, by posting a time of 4 minutes and 32.78 seconds. In the meantime, Kase’s team-member, 15-year-old Jay Y Litherland, comfortably managed
to secure the fifth fastest spot of the race, as he concluded his swim in a nice time of 4 minutes and 36.02 seconds. Litherland was only 2.12 seconds away from his subsequent swimmer and team-member, Michael J Kenny, who seized the sixth fastest spot of the
swim by reporting in a time of 4 minutes and 38.14 seconds.
Kenney’s team-member, the 15-year-old Kevin R Litherland was significantly away from the sixth position holder and settled on the finishing wall as the seventh fastest finisher, by ending his swim in a time of 4 minutes and 39.93 seconds. The final spot
of the 400m race was secured by Spencer A Kerns of AUB, who finished eighth after he touched the finishing wall in a time of 4 minutes and 42.92 seconds.
In addition, Cregar was extremely happy with his gold finish, while the arena acknowledged the tremendous swims of all finalists, who tried their best to earn a podium finish.
