i was paying pool and i had 2 balls to get in the pocket (the 8 and 3) i hit the scratch ball witch flew down the table and hit the 8 ball, than the 8 ball hit the 3 ball. the 3 ball went in the pocket and the 8 ball bounced off and went to the opposite direction and into a pocket

would that mean i won because the 8 ball went in last or would it mean that i lost

  1. There is no legitimate set of rules anywhere that would call that anything but a loss. You always must pocket all the balls in your group first (which would be solids) before attempting a shot on the 8. And as long as you have balls of your group on the table, you must hit one of them first or it is a foul.

So in your example, you committed a foul by hitting the 8 first, regardless of if anything goes in. Had the 8 stayed on the table, you would have lost your turn and given up ball in hand. And any time the 8 goes in when committing a foul, it is a loss of game. So in your example, you lose.

If you'd like to learn to play correctly, I suggest you go to bca-pool.com and learn the actual rules of 8 ball.

  2. you lose.....many, many, years ago.....

bar-rules allowed you to use the 8-ball

in a combination, such as you did, but that never included making the 8-ball, unless agreed on before the shot, and called.......

  3. You lose. If nothing else, the 8-ball is always an independent shot. You can't call a ball to fall first and  then the 8-ball in a pocket second.

  4. You hit the 8 ball first ? I think in most games of pool, the scratch (cue) ball must hit the low ball first like in rotation, 3-ball, 9-ball.

Let's you were playing 9-ball, you hit the scratch (cue) ball and it hits the 3-ball and hits and knocks the 9-ball in the pocket, you would have won.

  5. Depends on the rules, in most cases you would have lost the game entirely due to the fact the eight ball is supposed to be pocketed on its own along with the pocket being called. In some cases you would win if you had called the pocket which the eight ball went in.

  6. If you hit the eight first you are not only a lousy player, but your also a dummy.

  7. Only if you called the pockets the balls went into did you win. I always "call it" when I make shots like this.

  8. If you're playing 8 ball which I'm assuming is accurate, you lose.  You technically fouled when you hit the 8 ball first.  Even if you called it you can't hit a ball in and then the 8 ball in the same shot.  The 8 ball, in any organized game, has to be a seperate shot.

If you can consistantly set up and make that shot you could use it as a trick shot.

    Good Luck

  9. For most games you lost ,you have to call the pocket the 8 ball goes in before the shot. If it goes in the wrong pocket you lose.
