Looking to buy a pool table for my condo apartment.

Should I buy new or used? Used cheaper but table shape and installation scare me.

Thanks

  1. It was cheaper in the long run for us to buy a new one- they did the delivery and set up for me.

What we were told was that we needed 7 feet beyond the edge of the table, but that we could get away with 4 feet beyond it. We do not have that in one or two places, but we did buy properly weighted short sticks to make up for the when the ball is on the edge near the wall. If the cue stick can make it from the rail to the wall with a foot or so for pullback, you won't need these.

  2. New is generally better. Yes, used can be cheaper, but keep in mind you'll pretty much have to replace the cloth which will cost at least a couple hundred dollars, and if the table is very old you may need to replace the cushions as well, which is another few hundred dollars. If you don't know what you're doing, you may need to have someone else move and setup the table, which will cost another few hundred dollars. So now you're talking $800-$1000 in costs on top of the cost of a table for something with no warranty. Sure, you could go cheap and not replace anything, and set it up yourself, but if you're serious about the game you may be disappointed with the results. If you buy a new table, you'll know exactly what you're getting, and if anything goes wrong in delivery or setup, you're not responsible for fixing it. The extra money you might spend going new is well worth the piece of mind and warranty, in my opinion.

  3. go out lookin 4 1 u like no matter da age...used 4 me ittl be broke in and u wont worry bout scratchin it!!! lol

  4. 1st make sure you have enough space, as a 4x8 table you'll need about a 14x18 room, just add 10 feet each way, if you get smaller room, you'll be hitting the walls with cues. new or used though, depends on your price range, and many factors to consider, as cloth shape, rubber rail condition, ball condition, table condition, meaning if you have to replace a few things=it'll drive the price up. do you have staires to go up or down? do they have a corner? meaning can u get a 1 piece slate bar table in there? but most non bar tables have 3 piece slate. check out your local pool store, 2 get prices, and installitation fee! ebay pool table, select top right drop down menu and select nearest 1st, which will show u tables closest 4 sale to u, but i would go check it out b4 u bid! and make sure how it is, and how easy it is to get outta their house, can sometimes be a nightmare, esp 1 piece slates, but 1 piece slate table are much more easy to install, and perfectlly level. any questions, just ask, i've set up refelted and moved many.
