Billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong joins Los Angeles Dodgers’ bidding group – MLB News
Another billionaire from Los Angeles, Patrick Soon-Shiong has started his journey to purchase the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is coming with an alliance with hedge-fund billionaire Steven Cohen, who already seems in a comfortable position to outbid every other
challenger in coming weeks.
Patrick Soon-Shiong is considered one of the richest men in Los Angeles and has certainly chosen a right person to make an alliance with. Cohen, with large financial experience, knows how to undertake these kinds of new prospects which can expand different
businesses to new heights.
Meanwhile, the current owner of Dodgers’ franchise Frank McCourt is still looking some good price to initiate the sale process with extra speed. However, now since Cohen and Patrick has created a partnership to buy this valuable South Los Angeles baseball
franchise, it is looking pretty unusual that somebody else will also be giving the same price that Cohen and Patrick can give together.
Recently, Tim Leiweke, who is the president and chief executive of AEG, has said for Cohen and for his partners about the level of chances they posses to take control of Dodgers in the long run.
"We both agree Steve would be a great owner," Leiweke said. "He has the resources. He certainly has the passion to do it. He certainly gets the commitment it's going to take with the team and the stadium. We bring some knowledge of facilities. We don't want
to lead the charge. We're not baseball guys. That's not our area of expertise."
On the other hand, the Dodgers sale is technically scheduled to happen before the season starts. If this sale does not happen on time and again complexities occurred, Major League Baseball will impose serious penalties on the franchise which could hurt them
badly.
The baseball commissioner in Major League Bud Selig is also taking Dodgers’ sale seriously. The complete sale process of Dodgers’ franchise is happening under the total supervision of Selig. However, Selig along with all the senior members of MLB still could
not find out where things are going wrong and how long this process needs the final touches.
