Bills for Offshore Drilling Republicans have brought to the Senate are not for drilling??

Republicans want to flip some real estate while Bush is still in office? Scramble for as much as they can before gravy train stops with a change in Administration?

  1. Usually these bills contain some type of provision to give favor to a special interest group or have hidden types of implications. For example drilling in the Prudoe Bay Wildlife Preserve in Alaska under the guise of national security and oil reserves. If you look at the oil "aquifer" of that area it's already heavily drilled. This would break the covenant of "land preserves". For example Yellowstone could be condemned and the water sent anywhere under that pretense, sequia could be chopped down for lumber all in the name of a "better society".


  2. It is quite apparent that the democratic congress in not going to let that happen.

    However I think that the majority of the people are in favor of expanding off shore drilling, and Obama is starting to make concessions that he would be open to negotiations about it.

    But that could be just another political ploy to gain votes.
