Billy Butler shines as Kansas City Royals defeat Oakland Athletics 11-6 – MLB Update
Billy Butler put in a brilliant performance as the Kansas City Royals beat Oakland Athletics 11-6 at Oakland Coliseum on September 5.
The designated hitter was positioned in front of Eric Hosmer and he did his job well as he pulled some amazing shots around the stadium. The star hitter brought a hailstorm along to completely obliterate Oakland’s pitching rotation.
The slugger went 3 for 4, pilling on four runs, three RBIs and a batting average of .303. The star player is currently on top of the hitting averages’ list. He has Alex Gordon and Melky Cabrera tied on his position. Butler was able to comment on his play
today and he talked about his performance freely.
"I got some good pitches to hit and didn't miss 'em," Butler said. "That's just the game of baseball - some days you'll get 'em and some days you'll miss 'em."
The hard hitter was hailed for his two homers and both came off great pitchers. One home-run went against A’s starting pitcher, Rich Harden, while the other went against bullpen reliever, Craig Breslow, in the seventh. The heavy slugger complemented Hosmer
for the opportunity on his last homer.
"With a lefty on the mound there in the seventh, it just shows you what kind of year Hosmer is having when they pitch to me and they don't go to him," Butler said. "That just shows we're getting better offensively and can do some damage."
Hosmer did his part for the Royals, as the first baseman managed to collect three hits, two RBIs and two runs. The young star has a batting average of .287 and Butler seems to be hitting the nail when he reflects on the squad’s growing offensive power.
With only a few weeks left till the end of the regular season. Manager Ned Yost will be hoping the Royals can manage to keep their performance up from their recent 11-6 victory over the A’s. The team has a chance at the third spot in the American League
Central. A good knock will surely get them there.
