Do you like his work? Think he's to simple?

I like him, I like his simple poems, they entertain me. I saw him perform his poems last year and he really won me over

I just want to hear some other opinions!

Thanks!

  1. It took me a while to warm up to his poetry.  At first, I thought he was too simplistic, but after further consideration, I learned to appreciate his straight-forward style.

I especially like his poem about undressing Emily Dickinson.  It is nice to see a serious poet not take himself or any other poet too seriously.

  2. I never heard of him but I am looking forward to researching him soon. Thanks for the tip!

  3. I just read his poem "Introduction to Poetry" and I really liked it.

    Why is simple not good?

    Sometimes, simple is the best.

    This quote is from www.poets.org:

"About Collins, the poet Stephen Dunn has said, "We seem to always know where we are in a Billy Collins poem, but not necessarily where he is going. I love to arrive with him at his arrivals. He doesn't hide things from us, as I think lesser poets do. He allows us to overhear, clearly, what he himself has discovered."
