Billy Dib: Eduardo Escobedo does not intimidate me - Boxing news
Billy Dib, the current IBF Featherweight champion who will defend his title against the Mexican WBC Silver Super featherweight champion Eduardo Escobedo, says he is not afraid at all and will startle Eduardo, adding that he will make him aware of his weaknesses
in the ring during the 12-round skirmish.
Dib and Eduardo are scheduled to meet at Derwent Entertainment Centre situated in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia and the show will be televised by Australia Main Event on March 7, 2012.
Dib and Eduardo are equally competent and experienced pugilists. Both men have fought an equal number of opponents that is 35. Dib, widely known as ‘The Kid’, came out victorious in 33 and lost just one to Steve Luevano. Since then the 26-year-old Aussie
is on a winning streak.
Billy has collected 20 of his wins by knocking the opponent out cold. Eduardo, on the other hand has won 32 of his total engagements and won 23 of his bouts by knockout.
Well known as the ‘Canilla’, Eduardo is coming from a pretty intimidating win over Joksan Hernandez, a 12-round bout in which Eduardo pummelled Joksan so badly that he was later on hospitalised after getting knocked out by the Mexican in just the second
round.
Billy is quite optimistic about his Wednesday encounter and said that he has beaten Eduardo mentally adding that he understands the Mexican is the number one contender but there is no chance that he is getting the IBF title off his waist. Billy boasted that
Eduardo does not stand a chance in front of him.
Billy The Kid commented, “Resorting to obscenities just masks the shortcomings he has and I will expose them. I believe he’s already mentally beaten. It doesn’t get harder but the truth is he doesn’t stand a chance against me.”
The Mexican 28-year-old, on the other hand, aggressively remarked, “He has no power. Look at the people he has been knocking down, they are not first-class boxers.” Billy who is training under the auspicious and experienced supervision of Billy Hussein does
not seem to be intimidated and replied Eduardo in an equal notion.
The Aussie number one featherweight stated, “He’s just trying to get under my skin but he can’t rattle me. He’s coming a long way to fight and it’s unfortunate for him that he's up against me. I am monster for featherweight and it’s going to be a horrible
night for him.”
Billy and Eduardo, both are top notch pugilists who reside in the top 10 world rankings, one after another. Billy is ranked by World Boxing Organisation as seventh and Eduardo secures the eighth position in the featherweight division.
