Billy Doctrove calls time on umpiring career, retires from international cricket – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Billy-Raymond-Doctrove-c48096 has announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing a 14-year career as an umpire to an end. The 56-year-old Dominican’s contract with the ICC expires at the end of this month, and he will not be seeking a renewal.
“After much consideration I have informed the selectors of my decision to retire,” he said. “It has been an incredible 14 years for me as an international umpire and I have enjoyed every moment of it.”

Doctrove, who has served as an international umpire, in addition to having been a part of the ICC's Elite Panel of umpires, began his career as a batsman playing club cricket in his home town of Dominica. However, his true passion was football, and in 1995
he became FIFA’s first Dominican referee, only to quit in 1997 and focus solely on umpiring.
His international umpiring debut came in 1998, at Kingstown in an ODI between the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in Antigua. Doctrove stood in a total of 38 Tests, 112 ODIs and
17 T20Is throughout his career.
He was included in the international panel in 2004, and joined the ranks of the Elite Panel in 2006. He also went on to comment on how he felt privileged to have witnessed so many transformations in the game, including the introduction of new technologies, and the inception of the T20 format which, according to him, had taken the sport to “a completely
new level”.
