Billy Joe Saunders: Bradley Pryce is undoubtedly the toughest test of my career – Boxing news
Billy Joe Saunders, the current Commonwealth (British Empire) middleweight champion, recently shared his thoughts about Bradley Pryce, his upcoming opponent, and said that Pryce is not only a tough brawler but has also double the experience than him adding
that this bout is undoubtedly the toughest one of his career.
The duo will co-headline the pay-per-view which will be televised live on June 1, 2012. The fight card is being organised and promoted by Frank Warren and the ring for the bout will be set up at York Hall Arena situated in Bethnal Green, London, United Kingdom.
The showdown will also witness Mitchell Smith enter in his professional debut bout against a still to be decided opponent. Billy, 22, has been in a total 13 bouts and boasts an undefeated streak.
The young Briton has nailed nine of his opponents by knockout and recently grabbed the vacant Commonwealth (British Empire) middleweight title from Tony Hill by knocking him out in just the first round.
His Friday night opponent, Bradley, 31, is a veteran pugilist who has been in a total 43 bouts and boasts 33 wins. The Briton proud has nailed 18 of his opponents by knockout and has just made a comeback on the win track after collecting two consecutive
losses.
Pryce, also known as ‘Sugar Sweet’, recently collected point based wins over Danny Butler and Patrick Mendy and while keeping in mind his stats and talent can undoubtedly be dubbed as young Saunders’ toughest opponent.
It is this reason why Billy also known as the ‘Superb’, is not underestimating his opponent and is looking forward to put forth Bradley a tough bout. Billy stated, “I’m happy to be out in action again so soon and this time headlining London's other famous
fight hall - the York Hall.”
While expecting a tough chin from the veteran, Saunders commented, “I had a first-round stoppage against Tommy Tolan before Hill. I’m not expecting Pryce to go as quick, but with the way I’m punching at the moment who knows? He’s a hard fighter and has had
over twice as many fights as me against a lot of the top men in Britain around the weight so this is without a doubt my toughest fight yet.”
The bout will definitely be a tough one and Billy has a golden chance to not only collect his career’s most important win but also move up in the world rankings substantially.
