  1. That's a tall order; I'm afraid you're going to have to do some more reading & research.  Billy is one of the most complex characters in the novel, and his character arc extends through the entire trilogy (the next two books are 'The Eye in the Door' and 'The Ghost Road').  He changes drastically over the course of 'Regeneration'--when he arrives at Craiglockhart, he is unable to speak, but by the end of the novel, he is trying to get back to active duty and lead a normal life (he even has a girlfriend, Sarah).  His relationships are similarly complex; he is incredibly self-absorbed, and his relationship with his parents (including an abusive father) is so toxic that their visits cause asthma attacks and psychosomatic illness in him.  His relationship with Dr. Rivers (which is the heart of the trilogy) is fascinating and volatile; distrustful at first, he eventually begins to view Rivers almost as a parental substitute.
