Billy goat question?

I am new to the goat world. I currently have one billy, four nannies and one whether all in the same pin. My question is about my billy. He stick out his....male organ...licks it, and then pees on his nose. he then lifts his top lip and sticks his tongue out...this seems a little nasty to me, but is there a reason he is doing this? and is this behavior normal for male goats?

  1. They usually just do this when around reproductive age females.  If you want it to stop, seperate them.  Even if you are planning on breeding it is better to have them seperated and put the billy in when you want your nans bred.  This is good if you have more than a couple that way all your kids should drop at around the same time so you're not wandering if you need to go out in the middle of the night and check.

  2. Actually it is normal "Billy" behavior, and to him,it's truly showing off for the nannies/does.  For us human folks it is considered nasty, but for the girls it's almost like roses and a box of chocolates..lol. Since you already have a wether (castrated male) there, You have two choices either to castrate the Billy/Buck or use him for breeding.  Yes, and he will smell a lot better too. But for breeding purposes he will need to keep his equipment and his gallant showing off for the ladies is just par for the course.   Good luck with your goats.

  3. I have a pygmy goat and he did the same thing yes it is normal it is just a male thing. If you get him castrated he will stop.  right now it is his way of showing off.  Unless your breeding him i would get him neutered he will smell a lot better and have way bettertemperamentt.  If you are breeding him well he is just going to do that.

    Hope I helped.
