Billymatt seeking hat-trick at Romford
Could Billymatt be able to add another win to his mounting tally? This question is probably troubling every mind at Romford, where the fawn dog will meet five smart hounds in the Dagenham Rotary Race on Friday, April 12th.
After winning two similar races at the same venue, the dashing hound is in dashing shape. The draw is no big concern for him. He is due to start from the sixth box – the same trap he won previous two races from.
The opposition is not very tough. He has defeated such rivals many times in the past. So, there is plenty to believe that M. Wiley’s charge won’t find any difficultly in completing his hat-trick.
Among other runners are: Diesel Sammy, Isheforreal, Guinness Smokie, Big Blue Havana, and Castle Comet. The 225 metres contest is due to begin at 19:31 GMT. And a cash prize of 175 pounds is reserved for the ultimate champion.
Only thing that could worry Billymatt’s supporters is that it is hard to make any solid prediction for a short distance race of this kind. Any hound who manages to take a fast start could pose a real threat to the favourite hound.
Therefore, it is important for the son of Balltmac Ruso to be at his best right from the start. Otherwise, things could become really teasing for him.
Guinness Smokie enjoyed mixed fortunes in the previous two races over this distance here. Hence, it is very hard to trust him blindly. Castle Comet has a bit to find with the principals. The black dog ran well in the trails though, covering 380 metres in
just 24.08 seconds.
Diesel Sammy ended the lean spell in a great fashion last time, and should be in the firing line. As far as the natural abilities are concerned, Isheforreal is probably the biggest threat to the favourite runner. But his current form is really disappointing.
Ahead of a nice solo run, he faced three consecutive defeats at Peterborough.
Big Blue Havana could be the fly in the ointment from a good make-up. The blue dog was second on his previous two outings at Monmore. We wish the best of luck to all the runners.
