Bin Qiao stuns Hans Kristian Vittinghus in Men’s Singles round-of-16 at Li Ning China Masters 2012
China’s young and spirited player Bin Qiao proved that his previous victories were not a fluke as he secured his place in Men’s Singles quarter-final after thrashing his higher ranked challenger Hans Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark at the Li Ning China Masters
2012 in China, on Thursday, September 13.
The incredible Qiao, who started his campaign in the tournament as a qualifier, continued putting up staggering show in the main round and crushed the World Number 15 Vittinghus who was the sixth seeded shuttler in the world.
Backed by the support of huge home crowd, Qiao showed a wonderful performance against the experienced Vittinghus and remained successful in securing victory in straight sets with a lopsided margin in 46 minutes.
On the other hand, the sixth seeded Vittinghus failed to play positive badminton and remained unable to put up strong show. He could not cope up with the spirited display of his local opponent and lost the match with a humiliating margin on the board.
It was one of the most unpredictable matches of the day as the Danish player was heavy favourite to win this match as he was facing an inexperienced and un-seeded player.
However, the situation was quite different when Qiao unleashed his tremendous skills on court as he dictated the pace of rallies and managed to remain close to his Danish opponent until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the Chinese shuttler continued showing his attacking play and set up a reasonable lead. He maintained his focus on court and took the first set in a dominating fashion by a 21-15 score on the board.
In the second set, Qiao played with remarkable precision from opening points and he did not face any trouble in setting up a wonderful lead until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the young Chinese player remained positive and consistent on court as he did not let his opponent to take over the control of rallies at any stage. He ended up the second game with a wonderful score of 21-14.
Qiao emerged as victorious in this round-of-16 battle in 46 minutes with a stunning 21-15 and 21-14 margin on the board.
