  1. If you're tough on your binders, then you might want to try the Mead Five Star TruLock. The body is thick plastic sort of material, thicker than others, and not the kind with cardboard inside (that bends).  The rings are plastic, but they last long and they are easy to open, there is a slider that you pull out to make the rings open so you don't pinch your fingers. This binder is lighter than other binders of the same size. My son has to have a separate binder for every subject, so his backpack is heavy! We've been able to use this kind of binder for more than one year, he destroys the other kinds.

Have a great time in 7th grade!

  2. I for one am a fan of the plastic binder, because they are easier access to the materials inside and you are not hindered if there are oversized pieces by the zipper, plus, you can put pictures in them!

  3. I'd say a plastic binder. The first binder I had was material and it was okay at first. Yet, it was a lot bulkier than plastic and it got gross stains in it that wouldn't come out.

Plastic is simpler, easier, and more compact. Plus, it's cheaper and should last the year as long as you're careful. And as a plus, you can put things on the outside to remind you of things and also pictures.

  4. Normally the teacher specifies which one works best.  If they have not specified, it's a matter of personal choice.  I'm guessing you'd like a place for pics and for drawings you or your friends make.
