Question:

Binding sized on boards?

I have the Burton Cartels Bindings in a Size Medium. I am thinking about buying either the Burton Custom X or the Burton Custom. The Custom X in a Size 152 takes Small Bindings. The Custom in a 151 takes bindings sizes of small or medium. Why does each board have different binding sizes when they are almost pretty much the same size board? Also is this really a big deal if i put my Medium Size Cartel Bindings on a board that recommends Small?

  1. Good question.

    It really doesn't matter.

It just suggests that because it might ride better with the small bindings.

Like the turns might be better or your might get more speed.

But if you want to put medium binding on there go a head.

I have a custom X, Custom, Vapor, And clash.   -- All burton of course.

And i have medium bindings to, and they ride pefectly fine.

The only reason the suggest small if because sometimes the width of the board can make a difference. Like if you were to turn you bindings might be to small to the might catch the ground and then you get tripped up and fall.

  2. It's got to do with the width of the board.  If the bindings are too big for the board they'll hang over the edge or your toes/heels will.  It might be possible to get it in a wide width to accommodate the bindings.

If you don't need medium bindings see if you can return them and get a small.

  3. I dont know if this will help but my feet are pretty big. and so instead of having to buy an extremley expensive wide board i bought rise plates (i think thats what you call them) and put those on the burton custom. pretty much they raise your bindings almost an inch off the board, so bigger bindings wont drag in the snow. And that is why each board requires different binding sizes. its becase if the binding drags in the snow your carving and such will be majorly effected
