Bing Lee/Samsung Women’s NSW Open to feature leading Aussie, European players
With leading players from Australia and Europe poised to outplay their competitors, Bing Lee/Samsung Women’s NSW Open is going to start at Oatlands Golf Club, Sydney, from January 27-29.
Bing Lee/Samsung women's NSW Open typically features professional and amateur players. However, players from European countries will also participate in the $125,000 event, making it more competitive.
This year's event is going to be far tougher than expectations, as it will feature 71 pro players hailing from different countries.
Non Australian players, who have confirmed their participation in the event, belong to England, Canada, Norway, United States, Scotland, Ireland, Korea, Denmark, New Zealand and Wales.
Moreover, another factor that appears to have boosted the credibility of Women’s NSW Open among players is that there will be 12 Ladies European Tour (LET).
Participation of the LET winners will not only keep the underdogs interested, but will also improve the slumping image of women's golf.
As far as the competitiveness of the Open goes, there are many players whose profiles boast remarkable victories on LET.
For instance, Frances Bondad from Australia can be a tough contender. Bondad made a name for herself in 2011 when she won the Ladies Tour.
Fans and analysts appear to place their bets on the Aussie star, given her stunning performance and advantage of home crowd.
Bondad's track record highlights her growing influence in women's golf. She grabbed the headlines in the Sanya Ladies Open in Hainan, China last year.
The 23-year-old Australian capped off the tournament by a carding a bogey-free final round.
On the other hand, Melissa Reid from England also poses a challenge to her rivals. Turning professional in 2007, Reid has racked up 3 LET victories so far.
She recorded her first win in 2010 when she clinched the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open.
Moreover, there are also a number of LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) winners, who are gearing up to give their rivals a tough time.
Aussie Wendy Doolan, for instance, can prove challenging to her competitors. The 43-year-old Doolan has drawn spotlight on the back of her consistent game. She has won 3 LPGA tournaments.
On the other hand, organisers of Women’s NSW Open have also decided to allow free entry to spectators. The move is expected to boost the prestige of the event.
