Despite the developer’s earlier statement, the studio admits it could change the endings of the game based on what feedback they get from the fans.
Mass Effect 3 was one of the most eagerly anticipated games of this year as fans of the series looked forward to Sam Shepard’s swansong in the series that made him, or her depending on your preference, a gaming icon.
The game sold rather well, selling over a million units in its first week and earning near perfect review scores at the same time. However, there was one issue that caused an uproar from the fans of the series and that was the endings.
Mass Effect 3 has three possible endings that one could choose from, yet none of them seemed to satisfy the gamers who made it that far.
In fact, nearly every forum and community is repeating the same thing about the third and final chapter in Sam Shepard’s trilogy and that is the fact that the game is brilliant but the ending is weak.
Earlier on, BioWare was unapologetic about the endings. The studio claimed that the reason they were how they were was so that gamers could debate and discuss each outcome with each other and because the creative gurus behind the story wanted to leave it open for the gamers to interpret the final few moments for themselves.
However, that statement did not please many fans and it took a Tweet from Jessica Merizan, the community manager at BioWare, to calm things down.
She tweeted, “Someone misspoke on our Mass Effect channel. We’re still gathering feedback to create content that keeps it in mind. Thx 4 understanding :)”.
BioWare did not seem satisfied and posted another statement on Twitter as well. The statement read, “We are aware that there are concerns about a recent post from this account regarding the ending of the game. In this post it was stated that at this time we do not have plans to change the ending.”
Things really got interesting later on in the statement when it read, “At this time we are still collecting and considering our feedback and have not made a decision regarding requests to change the ending.”
