BioWare planning more Mass Effect 3 DLC – Video Games Update
The Mass Effect 3 Earth Multiplayer downloadable content (DLC) was released today for PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. BioWare has announced that this is not the end and the company will be supporting the game with additional DLCs throughout the year.
Following the ending controversy, which forced the Mass Effect team at BioWare to give in to the fan and media pressure and finally release an extended cut ending DLC which further clarified the three endings of the game by adding a fourth secret one. BioWare
has been forced to release the recent multiplayer DLCs for free, probably hoping to appease the upset fan-base.
This will change soon as game producer Mike Gamble stated that the team wants to do a single player DLC. He stated that Mass Effect 3 is about Commander Shepard so the DLC will continue his story and gamers won’t be playing with a new protagonist.
Gamble stated that no new multiplayer DLC has been planned but the team might consider additional multiplayer DLCs if gamers are still playing the game online and there is sufficient demand for it. He also mentioned that BioWare was surprised with the reception
the multiplayer mode from gamers as it was introduced to the series for the first time.
"We see people who have everything unlocked all the way up to level 20 on everything, plus all the mods, plus all of the gear, everything. It takes a lot of time, a lot of time to get that stuff, like hundreds and hundreds of hours of play to usually get
up to that level. And some of these people had done it in the first month to two months," mentioned Gamble in an interview at San Diego Comic Con 2012.
It would seem that gamers are somewhat happy with how BioWare is tackling the multiplayer mode of the game and the three free multiplayer DLCs released so far have only improved the experience. The latest Earth multiplayer DLC added a new ‘Vorcha’ class
which since release has become really popular even though Vorchas in Mass Effect single player are generally disliked by fans.
