  1. I am a biochemistry graduate. Studied to phd level. it is a good choice of degree although is hard work compared to those easy business degrees that are given out with ease. The best bit about the degree is you will understand the biochemical processes that underline everything in life. It involves a little maths but mostly in the form of putting numbers into equations to get an answer and also ratios. I currently work for the government investing in new innovative technologies. Others in my year went on to work for big pharmaceuticals to make some good money and also the national health service analysing the results of all the tests that get done in hospitals on a day to day basis.

  2. There is a lot of maths involved; after all, its basically chemistry applied to biology. It is very interesting though !

I ended up working in an office...

  3. Biochemistry is a wonderful degree and I would recommend it over doing straight chemistry or biology.  You have much more flexibility with what you can do with biochemistry.  There are a lot of openings in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries for people with that degree.  It'll also keep you on your toes as things in that field are always advancing.  I went with straight Chemistry and wish I had done biochem.  The math isn't too bad, you'll need two full semesters of Calculus but that's as far as you'll need to go (algebra is used a lot, but it's not the hard stuff).  I work in the biotech industry purifying antibodies for clinical trials.  Check us out: www.medarex.com

    Good luck!
