Biodegradable or Plastic BBs?

Which should I use in my backyard and woods for an airsoft pistol, I have pets.

The Bios degrade in 7-10 days, are non toxic, but also melt easier, are softer, and may jam my gun.

The Plastics degrade in 750 years, and I don't know if they are toxic. They are bad for the enviorment, they are a known though.

Plastics are half the price of ecos.

  1. Really it depends on if you're willing to spend the extra money on the biodegradable BBs. Simply put, any BB has the potential to jam your airsoft gun, but if you buy high-quality BBs (the reliable brands that I can think of off the top of my head are Airsoft Elite, TSD, KSC, and Excel) then you won't have a problem with jamming. Basically, if you can't see any visible marks on the BBs (such as seam lines) and they feel smooth like they have a silicon coating on them, then they're probably fine.

Here's a comparison of several different biodegradable BBs on Airsoft Mechanics.

Other than what I've already said, I really don't think you have to worry about much; biodegradable or not, the BBs will be buried in a few months unless you're dumping thousands of them on the ground in dense piles. Your pets probably won't even care about the BBs on the ground so the choice is up to you.

  2. use Bios due to the fact they are biodegradeable plastics could harm other animals in you backyard and cause other types of enviromental issues

  3. 7-10 days?  Most of your good Bios (TSD, KSC, etc) breakdown within 180 days after exposure to heat and moisture.  they shouldn't break or jam if they are good.

In my yard, I hate seeing BBs so Bios are the wise choice for me.
