I'm looking to go to college for an engineering major and am wondering what type of work a bioengineer does after college because it is something I may be interested in

  1. Mostly you'll be developing processes.  Either small-scale; in the lab or large-scale industrial processes, that are based on biological processes.

    Design of reactor vessels, piping, valves, controls, instrumentation will all be performed.  

    You will need to understand the basics of those biological processes, too.

    Technically speaking, setting up a winery or brewery on a large-scale is even bioengineering.

    The other term that is considered bioengineering is the actual manipulation of DNA in plants (seeds) and animals, to achieve a desired end result.  Here, you need to be a pure biologist.
