What would be the Problem, Purpose and Procedure of this experiment:

effect of light/darkness on plants - you can have 4 pots of same plant but vary the light (amount or intensity) given to each. [remember to have a control group] or keep the light constant & bring in plants from different environments.

  1. Problem: Will the amount of light a plant is exposed to affect its growth?

A possible hypothesis could be: Plants exposed to more light grow better than those exposed to less light.

The purpose is to determine the connection between light intensity and growth of plants.

    Procedure:

    1. Prepare at least three plants of about the same size and age. It's better if you use seedlings or seeds of a plant which grows fast.

    2. Put the plants in places with different light intensities.

    a. Put one in a very dark area, where it can get no light, like under a paper bag.

    b. Another is to be placed in a shaded area or where it can get light indirectly.

    c. Put the other where it can get directly hit by the sun's light during the day.

    3. Water the plants with the same amount each day. Don't change them in any way.

    >> It's better to have many plants for each environment for better results.
