HELP!

Reptiles do not live in the Arctic; however, some birds do live in the Arctic even though they evolved from reptiles. In your own words, offer an explanation for this fact. Include information on the metabolic differences between the two groups' bodies, as well as what effect their metabolic differences have on their relationship with their environment.

Could you please explain?

  1. Metabolism in this question refers to body temperature regulation. Reptiles are ectotherms (cold-blooded), which means they can not sustain their internal body temperature. Warm-blooded creatures, such as birds, are homeothermic.

You might also consider the role of feathers as insulation.
