  1. develops a resistance obviously. But it does bear importance to spray for insects at a particular developmental stage. Certain pesticides will only work on different stages of the life cycle of the bug. That is vital info when spraying to ensure your doing what you want, and not spraying and actually helping the bugs develop resistance. Also, it is common practice to rotate chemicals so the bugs are affected with different acting chemicals so development of resistance will be diminished.

Pesticides aren't bad for the environment, improper use and overuse are.

  2. The species eventually becomes resistant due to overuse.

  3. I guess...

-The insect was able to form a defense mechanism against that pesticide, so the pesticide kills all the other insects, and that decreased the competition for food, which resulted in increase of that particular insect.

This is how those creatures survive!!!

  4. They have grown immune to it.  (Resistant.)  They have gotten too used to it.

  5. maybe the answer is that since its growing season, there should or most likely there to be more insects even though he killed them "all", many insects can grow in a day or 2 and then  they could come back to feed on the crops again.

  6. The answer your teacher is probably looking for is that the bug evolves and forms a defense mechanism toward the bug spray. However, you can outsmart your teacher by telling her that a species of insect is highly unlikely to evolve at such a rapid pace that it forms a defense mechanism in less than a growing season. She/he may retork with saying that a virus rapidly evolves to become resistant to a certain medicine and takes no time at all to do it. Simply remind him/her that an insect is much more complex than a virus and takes a relatively long time to evolve.

    Hope this helps!!!
