You are a botanist hired in the future to make a distant planet, Xyloph, habitable for human life. Your job is to help seed the planet with plant life by working with the Terraforming Team. All four major kinds of plants will be introduced into this new world. You are to help familiarize the Terraforming Team with the four different kinds of plants on Earth.

In three to five well-developed paragraphs, describe each of the four major plant groups. Your description should include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Description of general physical features and characteristics of each plant group.

• Discussion of living conditions where each plant group survives best.

• Explanation of specific abiotic conditions necessary for the success of that group, when applicable.

Many people are unfamiliar with the terms used in botany. Be sure to define ALL botany-related terms people might not understand.

I'm not sure if it matters what plant to use or anything:/ help is much appericiated

  1. Honey, no-one is going to write you up a huge list of information about the four types of plants.

I will give you brief details.

Mosses and Relatives = Small, leafy-stemmed plants that grow in carpet-like mats and tufts on moist ground. Particularly abundant in maritime regions of Antarctica where conditions are too harsh for other types of plant. In Antarctica mosses often accumulate in large "moss banks".

Ferns and Relatives = Ferns are non-flowering plants that were plentiful during the Mesozoic Era and usually live in warm, moist areas. Ferns have fronds divided into leaflets. T. rex leg bones FIBULA The fibula is the calf bone - the bone in the lower, back part of the leg between the knee and the ankle.

Gymnosperms: As the climate began to dry out the large Fern forests began to be replaced by a new type of plant the gymnosperm. This plant had vascular tissue and a new type of reproductive structure called the seed. These plants contained these seeds in structures called cones. The leaves of most of the gymnosperms are needle -like structures. These needles contained a thick cuticle and reduced stomata. The conifers are heterosporus (male and female gametes develop from different types of spores on different structures).

Flowering Plants: are the most widespread and diverse. The division Anthophyta is divided into two classes, Monocotyledonae and Dicotyledonae. The development of the flower allow this group of plants take over most biomes on earth. The life cycle of the Anthophyta is similar to that of the gymnosperms. The gametophyte stage is small and microscopic. The male gametophyte is the mature pollen grain while the female gametophyte is the embryo sac, located in the ovule.
