1) The atomic number of carbon is 6. Therefore, the number of protons in a carbon atom equals _______.

2) How many pairs of electrons do the two oxygen atoms in an oxygen molecule share with each other? Please explain.

3) The atomic number of argon is 18. Will argon tend to form bonds with other elements? Please Explain.

    2.) i think 2 electrons = 1 pair

    3.) i think no because it's a noble gas.

    2. Just one pair.     Both oxygen atoms require 8 electrons and alone they have 6 so if they share one pair then they will have 8

    They both share one pair each --> :: thats four, and then they both have four left over.

    3. No it will not becuase it is stable. (It has exactly 2 e- for first electron shell, 8 for the next and another 8 for the 3rd electron shell)
