  1. Abiotic factors in an ecosystem are all the things that are not alive, nor ever were.  Rocks, geological formations, water, wind, seasons, weather patterns, temperature, etc...

    As you can probably see, abiotic factors definately effect the biotic factors.  Many organisms cannot live in the frozen winters of Alaska, or the hot dessert summers of Africa.  Plants have adapted to rainfall and sunlight levels tremendously.  Areas with a lot of rain and a good amount of sun tend to have plants with huge leaves.  Areas will little rain, too much heat, and too much sun tend to have smaller leaves.

    As for what abiotic factors change, weather, temperature, rainfall, river water level (some areas) all change as the seasons change.  In northern Alaska especially, amount of sunlight per day changes with the seasons.
