Question:

Biometric scannering clocking

The company I work for wants to introduce a new clocking system which uses our thumb prints to clock in and out. We have not been asked about whether or not we are happy for our finger prints to be stored on a data base. Can they bring this in without asking us first if we agree to have our prints stored??

  1. Yes, they can. Biometric scanners are perfectly legal to use and save the company money. They also prevent employees clocking in for other employees.

Fingerprints are not considered confidential information. Your fears are unfounded.
