  1. Is there a floppy disc IN the drive ? If so remove it

Updating BIOS will NOT change settings. SO I wouldn't do that except as a last resort.

When it tries to boot WITHOUT a disc in the floppy drive does it give an error ? If so WHAT ?

We need more info to even think about helping. Add more info to the question.

  2. It will always try to boot from floppy first if you have a floppy attached. Most machines now do not have as it is dangerous. an infected floppy left in the drive can totally wipe you system.
