Bipolar disorder: can you trust everything they say?

Question

ive been dating this girl for a few months now that has bipolar tendencies. sometimes i feel that she may be lying to me about how loyal she is to me...basicly sometimes i think shes cheating. i have confronted her about this before and is now telling me that when i confront her about it, she says she feels "discusting" and "dirty" is this maybe a sign that she isnt telling the truth...

Vas the person who answered this question before me doesn't know what he's talking about. My 25 yr old son is bipolar and was 17 when dx. He is one of the most honest people I've ever met. Don't ever blame the illness for someones lying or mood swings. When a person is manic they can't turn it on and off, that's more like ADHD. I should know, I am, and I'm also good at lying at will. But hey that's just me being honest. Feeling disgusting and dirty could be cause she feels shes doing something wrong with you. Perhaps its the way you treat her after wards or your always doubting her. Give it some more time.

Is it just YOU diagnosing her as bipolar? Sounds like it. Because there is no such thing as"bipolar tendancies." You are or your aren't.

Being bipolar does not make you a pathological liar. It's a mood disorder. And maybe when she tells you she feel disgusting when you say those things to her, you should listen.

And since you're not a psychologist, maybe you should stop trying to diagnose people.

I don't think the problem is that she's unfaithful (she probably isn't). I think the problem is that you're paranoid.

Well bipolar is when someone switches from one mood to another within seconds. It doesn't mean they lie, it just means certain things make their "split personality" as the doctors call it go off. Bipolar is one minute you tell her you love her and jokingly say "but your hair is getting too long." and all of a sudden she's crazy mad and saying "omigod your an a**hole I can't believe you if you feel that way then leave!" Or your mom is cooking and is happy, and you accidentally spill milk and she blows up in your face saying "what the h**l is your problem, why can't you be more careful" then out of no where about 10 mins later shes crying. That's bipolar. So your girlfriend isn't bipolar just because you think she's lieing. But yeah her playing the innocent card is a sign of feeling guilty for doing something.
