Question:

Bird egg fertile?

If my bird laid 5 eggs could the male have fertilized the fourth or fifth egg because they had no feelings for eachother before that.Once the 3rd was laid the male began to feed her and i heard a lot of kissing.(the first one did not hatch already its been 21 days)Thank you so much!!

  1. the type of egg don't matter in about 2 weeks after the egg is laid put a light to it and try to see trough it if you see a dark spot in the middle  like an eclipse its fertile i have 3 parakeets they had eggs and i did the same thing i know what I'm doing


  2. Eggs are viable for at least 7-10 days. If they hadnt started incubating them right away, they still might be good. Check with a strong flashlight, if you see either the dark spot in the egg, or little red veins running thru it, then they might be ok yet. Sometimes they wont start sitting on the eggs right away until after the 3rd egg is laid. Give it another week or 10 days before you dispose of them.  If its their first clutch, they may not have known exactly what to do, and in that case, they might not hatch. It sometimes happens with inexperienced birds. If nothing happens, give them a little break, and try again.

  3. It depends on the type of bird. I would put them all in an incubator and see what happens.
