Bird fell into chlorine chlorinated pool?

A wild bird fell into our pool. The pool is chlorinated. The bird can stand, but apparently has trouble breathing. (Sporadic breathing patterns). It seems to only breathe every 5 seconds, and seems painful. He can squawk, but that was only when I got him out of the pool. This is a big bird, and appears to be an adult.

What should I do to help it? We cannot call Animal Rehab at the moment.

Give it lots of fresh water and food (nuts, berries and other fruits, veggies, seeds, crickets). Give it some shelter. If it is walking than it probably just needs some more time to recover. Call animal rehab or a vet when possible (if the bird hasn't flown off yet).
