  1. marcus is correct

  2. Do not use Lard, the best fat to use is Beef dripping you can buy this from most supermarkets ,use it in the same way as lard.

Melt mix with Seeds,Porridge Oats or a cheap Muislee and Raisins etc.put in old yogurt or trifle pots put a piece of string through centre of pot(THIS IS TO HANG IT FROM) place in fridge till they set,

The best of using Beef dripping is that it does not melt as easy as lard especially in warm weather and is not as greasy for children to work with.

    Made hundreds.

  3. Its easy enough, just buy pkts of lard from the supermarket, then mix with agood variety of wildbird seed. Then shape into small balls and place in some soft netting ,and ready to hang from a tree branch,or bird table

  4. So as not to alienate the children from ethnic minorities, best use vegetable fat not lard and bird seed.  Just melt it and put the blessed seeds in isn't it, with a piece of string so you can hang it up?

  5. It's a block of lard, a bag of porridge oats and the bird seed.

Warm the lard add the oats and seed and whisk into a paste.

    (Blue Peter here I come :0)  )

Grease a used yoghurt pot, tie a big knot in the end of a suitable bit of string. Thread the string through a straw. Put the knot end in the middle of the yoghurt pot. Pack pot with lard paste, pull out straw and leave to set in a dry cool place, (fridge would be ideal).

Porridge oats are what glues it together. You could knock them out the yoghurt pots after about an hour and bake for 30 min at 200C or just use, much would depend on how hard you want the birds to work for their food.
