  1. pet store or vet they will take care of it well idk about pet store but they will help

  2. first if it's alive take it to the vet and they can tell you what it is every one will tell you to do that

  3. Beth P is right. Animal control and veterinarians deal with pets, not wild animals. You can find a regional list at http://www.tc.umn.edu/~devo0028/contact.... which should help you find a rehabber near you.

  4. take it to the SPCA they will take care of the bird and its free to drop it off....they might even come pick it up.

  5. www.mbr-pwrc.usgs.gov/bbs/ident.html

  6. You need to take this bird to a wildlife rehabber or to a vet that accepts wildlife. It may be fine. Some birds take what is called a ant bath. they let the ants cover them and they work them through their feathers to rid themselves or parasties. Some bird also take dust baths. Sounds strange but it is true. If the bird seems ok then release it back near where you found it. If it seems sick then get to vet or rehabber this is free for all wildlife. If try to help it yourself it will probably pass on as they are very delicate and need special care. Thanks for helping it even if it was just taking ant bath. Another reason they could have covered it is it may have been close to death if the core temp goes low then ants, flys, and other insects move in on it. Good luck.

  7. If it's feet are webbed then it must live around and eat in water. It also depends on where you live. Where are you from?

  8. Beth P gave you the right answer.  The others are bogus - vets know nothing about wild birds. SPCA would laugh at you.

Google - wildlife rehabbers, go to your state and call.

It matters not what kind of bird it is. Thank you for saving it.  If you still have it, keep it warm and do not try to give it food or water.  Use a heating pad to keep it warm, not hot until you find a rehabber.
