Bird in the Fry Daddy?

My bird went for a fly around the house this evening and she fell in the fry daddy and is now covered in grease (no, it wasnt on). I am wondering if the grease will hurt her? Not only that but what can we use to get all of this nasty grease off of her feathers?

  1. Wash your bird in luke warm water with a mild unscented liquid soap. Dry as best as you can or if your bird isn't afraid of a hair dryer put it on the lowest setting and cool after you towel dry. Your bird won't be able to fly for a while and will be preening and re-oiling itself with its oil glad to waterproof and keep dirt off himself again.

  2. take her a bath in lukewarm water and clean it off gently with a towel, maybe that will help

  3. Give her a warm bath in Dawn dish soap. Hust the plain blue kind. Make sure she is in a draft free spot when done. it may take several baths to get this oil off her. It is important that it is off as her feathers will not function to keep her warm and allow her to fly. I would contact a vet if the oil does not come off after a couple baths as I am sure they could help.
