Bird question.?

What dose it mean when a birds eyes get smaller and bigger.

I have two parakeets who are 3 years old and their eyes normally get smaller when they are stressed. I normally just play them some music or let them out to fly around or take a bath to calm them down then their eyes usually get bigger again. (This is just what I've observed-- in no way a professional opinion--)

some times they are trying to look at some thing that is farther or closer just like lenses on a camera also if you mean in a long time, when a baby bird is just hatched its eyes are small and you cant see the white part and as they get older than you can see it
